Joel R. Shackelford, 49, of Amarillo, died Monday, September 18, 1995.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Central Church of Christ with Dick Marcear of the church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Bell Avenue Chapel of Schooler-Gordon, Blackburn-Shaw Funderal Directors, 5400 Bell Street.
Joel was born in Amarillo on September 18, 1946. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1965 and attended Lubbock Christian College. He graduated from Abilene Christian College in 1969.
He had been a choir director at Palo Duro High School, Crockett Middle School, Tascosa High School and Amarillo High School. He was a volunteer coach for Kids, Inc., and coached soccer for the Amarillo Soccer Association.
Survivors include his wife, Robin Shackelford; two daughters, Jessika Shackelford and Chelsea Shackelford, both of the home; a son, Jonathan Shackelford of the home; a stepson, Shane Spencer of Amarillo; his parents, J.R. and Ruby Earl Shackelford of Amarillo; two sisters, Thelmas Hall of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Mae Ellen Morgan of Fayetteville, Arkansas; a foster brother, Vernon Williams of Abilene, and a foster sister, Enola Gay Boyd of Ralls
