The streets of Amarillo, TX were Rockin' when the Best Class Alive arrived in Amarillo last week to celebrate OUR 45th Class Reunion! It was a wonderful time of renewing old friendships and sharing details about our lives since Palo Duro High School. Friday afternoon we gathered at the Ambassador Hotel for a reception and get acquainted time together. Later that night many of us attended the Palo Duro-Amarillo High football game and afterwards danced into the night at the Austin Pub where Billy Stull and his musicians brought back many of the old songs of our senior year.

The next morning we unveiled our class gift at Palo Duro High School, toured the school and had lunch in our old cafeteria. It had not changed a bit! However, we did see some significant changes at Palo Duro: new classrooms, a new commons area and entrance to the school, and a renewed Don spirit was evident everywhere. Our school is alive and well, serving a new generation of Dons who will also make a difference in the world.

Saturday night began early at the River Breaks Ranch with a silent auction, horse races at the adjacent rodeo arena, and a authentic Texas steak dinner with all the trimmings. David Hall, our president, announced later that evening that over two thousand dollars was raised in the silent auction--enough to fund the class gift and still have about one thousand dollars added to our scholarship fund! The evening ended with the premiere of a new film about our class titled, Forty-Five Years and Counting. Each classmate received a set of DVDs that included both the 2005 film, Do You Believe in Magic, together with a copy of this year's film. The evening ended with a rendition of Happy Trails as everyone said goodbye and made tentative plans to return to Amarillo for our 50th Reunion in 2015.

As the sun was setting in the canyons beyond, we gathered together for a group picture. This snapshot marks 45 years years of friendship and shared history.
