Beverly Ann Smith was born Beverly Ann Ray on January 3, 1947, to Dallas and Norma Ray in Amarillo, Texas. She was the older sister of Becky Ray Baskerville of Tucson, AZ. Beverly departed this earthly life on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at the age of 75.
Beverly attended Palo Duro High School and then became a wife and mother. She worked at several jobs over her lifetime, but her heart was always at home, cleaning and cooking for the ones she loved. She married the love her life, Ronald O. Smith on June 8, 2005. She treasured her time with all of her family.
Beverly was a born again Christian and loved her church family at Park Hills Baptist Church. Her body may have been taken over by cancer, but she was brave, and her spirit was stubbornly strong:
When peace, like a river attendeth my way
When sorrow like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
She is survived by her three children: Tonia and husband Eric Theriot of Bayou Vista, TX; DeAnna Fancher McHenry of San Antonio, TX; and Dallas Jason Fancher of Ft. Worth, TX. Beverly had four grandchildren: Devin Velasquez and wife Jordi of Amarillo, TX; Shay and husband Ryan Morath of Amarillo, TX; Heather and husband Justin Allen of Paris, TX; and Courtney Smith and friend Joseph Turner of Lubbock, TX. Beverly also had 8 great grandchildren: Luke, Brayden and Jax Morath; Marin Velasquez; and Gauge, Able, Noah and Brody Allen. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.
A service to celebrate Beverly Ray Smith's life will be held on January 21, 2023, at 11 a.m. followed by a reception at Park Hills Baptist Church.
